There is no fee to apply for this residency. Applicants must be able to be in residence in Monson during the entire residency session. Please do not apply unless you can commit to at least one of these residency sessions:

2019 Residency Sessions

Feb 3-March 1; March 3-March 29;  March 31-April 26; April 28-May 24; May 26-June 21; July 21-August 2  (two weeks); Sept 1-27; September 29-October 25; October 27-November 22.

Before applying, please review these details: 


Monson is located at the edge of Maine’s North Woods, 3.5 million acres of forest bordering Canada. It is the last town on the Appalachian Trail before the beginning of the 100-Mile Wilderness that leads to Mount Katahdin.


Please do not apply unless you can commit to at least one of these residency sessions.

There is no fee apply or to attend this residency. Participants in the month-long residencies receive room, board, and studio space, along with a $1,000 stipend. For the two-week residency, participants will receive a $500 stipend.

Studio and Special Equipment

Basic studio space with desk.


Residents will be provided a private room with a shared bath.

Residents will be provided meals during their month-long stay.

Spouses, partners, and children are not allowed at this residency.

Internet Access

Access to the internet will be available at the residency.
